LeCun is the rare figure who combines deep technical contribution (CNNs) with relentless public engagement. His debates with AI doomers on X/Twitter are legendary. His 'world model' vision for AI, learning like babies through observation, represents a fundamentally different path from pure language models. Worth following closely.
