Biography
Geoffrey Everest Hinton is a British-Canadian cognitive psychologist and computer scientist who is widely regarded as the 'Godfather of Deep Learning.' His pioneering work on artificial neural networks — particularly backpropagation, Boltzmann machines, and deep belief networks — laid the foundation for virtually every modern AI system. After decades at the University of Toronto and Google Brain, Hinton left Google in 2023 to speak freely about the existential risks of the technology he helped create. In 2024, he received the Nobel Prize in Physics for his contributions to machine learning — a moment that symbolized AI's arrival as a fundamental scientific discipline.
